5 Types of Journaling

Sunday, October 12, 2014

There are a lot of different types of journals you can make, and I love them all because journaling is my absolute favorite thing- along with blogging. Which is why I've come up with a bunch of journal prompts to help you write every day.

1. Ideas Journal

A journal filled with all of your DIY project ideas, what to organize, and what to do. Basically, it's Pinterest in a book! You can post pictures into it, write, draw, all kinds of stuff. It's pretty simple- just fill it with all of your best ideas!

2. Gratitude Journal

This is the easiest one- just write three things you are grateful for in it every night. You can post pictures in it of what your grateful for, and it only takes a minute. Just three things, every night; and if your feeling creative, you can do it when you wake up, too!

3. Thoughts and Observations

This one is pretty basic; just sit in public and record your observations. For example, you could write about the people you see and what you think about them, or what you're thinking about at the moment.

4. Dream Journal

This is so easy, you could do it with a 4 year old. And it's great for people who would like to monitor their dreams to see what the mean. You simply keep a journal directly next to your bed for easy access as soon as you wake up, and write down everything you remember from your dreams as soon as possible. If you don't do it right away, you could forget them.

5. Quick Journal

If you would like to keep a journal but don't really have the time, then I recommend keeping a quick journal where you only write one sentence every day. But if you're looking for something different, some people write one adjective to describe that day and one to describe how you want tomorrow to be.
