You Have To Start A Bullet Journal

Monday, February 2, 2015

This is another type of journal I should have written about a long time ago- but I didn't. A bullet journal, if you were wondering, is simply a journal to record simple notes, and jot down ideas, email addresses, deadlines, etc. They're really simple, and you'll thank me later. Bullet journals are good to bring everywhere- traveling, shopping, conferences, and other convenient places where you might want to write something down.

Oh, these could make the cutest Bullet Journal icons ever! (If I can draw them, that's it...)First things first- bullet journals need a key, or an icon library. I've provided an example, with some cute symbols to go with it. Some symbols to add might include "Books to read" or "To do" or simply "Remember!".

Most people normally use a Midori journal or simply a moleskine journal, but other journals and notepads work, too. Actually, anything at all works great- just keep it organized, and not too big, considering you'll be bringing it nearly everywhere.

Now just put the icon next to any notes you take according to the category, and check it every so often. There are 3 simple types of notes, for you minimalists out there- an event, a task, and a note. An event is represented by a small circle, a task is a check box, and a note is a little bullet.

At the beginning of every month, you draw out a calendar: simply write the date and the day of the week, along with a major task or event for that day. You will be making a to do list or task list for every day; it's okay if you skip a couple days. At the end of the month, if the task is complete, check the box. If it is irrelevant, cross it out. If it still needs to be done, migrate it to the next month.

I hope you have fun with your bullet journal and I hope it helps you to simplify and organize your life. Thanks for reading!

xx Savannah
