Favorite Google Play Apps

Thursday, September 25, 2014

If you have an Android device or use Google Play to purchase from the wonderful worlds of apps and games, and are bored with what you have on your phone/tablet, then here are some of my favorite apps. These are all free so put away your wallet.

1. GoComics

GoComics is an app that supplies free comic strips for almost any comic you can think of- Calvin and Hobbes, Garfield, Poptropica Comics, Dilbert, etc etc etc. I can't think of many right now, but I will guarantee you this app has every single comic strip in the history of any comic. The navigation is a little frustrating, but overall, you NEED this app. Especially if you love comic strips and have Wi-Fi.

2. Candy Crush Saga

Okay, you have probably seen the commercials for this saying that this is an awesome game, and they're RIGHT. It is extremely addicting and has kept me coming back every few hours. If you love social media, then you're in luck- you can sign into Facebook and play this game with your friends! It is difficult enough that you don't quit the game, but not so hard that you may break your device... (Like with Flappybird!!) This is unlike any other game of it's kind, and it functions without Wi-Fi.. For those people on the go, or for those who simply do not have internet for the time being.

3. Angry Birds Seasons

I know Angry Birds is totally mainstream, and that it doesn't look as fun as it really is. But I love this game- for any reasons. First of all, there are so many different seasons, with over 20 levels in each season, that are from the previous years. No, you don't need Wi-Fi... I feel like I need to answer this question because it is one of the many things I wonder about when purchasing an app. Second of all, there are alot of different birds to throw (or fling? I don't even know.) and even bonus levels if you get all 3 stars in all levels in one season. This is extremely addicting.. Finally, there are the Pig Days- every week, Rovio has come up with different themed special levels for you to play, including Left Handed Day, Talk Like a Pirate Day, Moon Landing Day, and so much more. You should seriously get this app...

4. Sketch Book Express

This is a free drawing app that is not like those other apps- it is flawless. It has failed to disappoint me. All you need is a stylus and your device.. Or just your finger, if you don't have a stylus. It has so many virtual drawing tools that you can use to make your own digital work of art. This is a fantastic app that I highly recommend. It has a full version, but the free app is just fine for me. You can save your art to the gallery in the app and even save it halfway through a drawing so that you can finish it later. In my opinion, it is totally unique and worth it... And it's free, too. Plus, you don't even need Wi-Fi!

5. Stardom

Okay, this game is awesome. if you're the type of person who just wants to stay at home in their pajamas lying on the couch with their phone but would still like to be famous, then this is the app for you! Make your own star or starlet and rise to fame as you act, date, eat, travel, buy homes, buy pets, etc! Rock the latest fashions as you style it up while also making extra cash at the local coffee shop, Starbeans. You even have your own agent, publicist, and costars! What could be more fun? Oh, if it was free and didn't require internet? ALREADY DONE!

6. Lumosity

This genius (no pun intended!) app will train your brain to perfection- and signing up is totally free. I know "signing up" sounds like a hassle, but all they really need is a username and password (maybe your email, I forgot) and you're set. All you have to do is play 3 simple games every day and your brain will be trained to remember things, solve things, predict things, sort things, etc! Overall, I'm convinced that it increases your IQ, but even if it doesn't, the games are fun anyway.

7. Snoopy Street Fair

Chances are, if you're reading my blog, you like the Peanuts comics. If you do not like them or have never heard of them, you need to install the GoComics app.. Right now. Okay, ready? Snoopy Street Fair is your own virtual street fair in the Peanuts Comics that is put on by Charlie Brown and Snoopy. You can buy different stalls and decorations for your street fair, expand your street fair, and even get to know the characters that are visiting your fair by reading their thoughts when you tap on them. You can collect Peanuts comic strips and baseball cards to complete the set. You can even collect coins and bucks to save up and buy even more expansions, stalls and decor for your beautiful fair!

8. Pocket Frogs

This is one of many games by Nimblebit. Others include Pocket Trains and Vegas Hotel... I love those ones, too. ANYWAY PocketFrogs is a game where you can raise your own virtual frogs and care for them as you collect new breeds and decorate new habitats. As you level up, new breeds of frogs of higher rarities will enter the shop, granting you access to purchase them. You can also sell your frogs, enter them in races, go to the pond with them, and even play games with them! Their happiness will go up when you play with them and buy decorations for their habitats.
