8 Inspirational iPhone Wallapapers

Your Only Limit Is You:

A wallpaper can mean everything on a phone (or computer, if you're talking about a desktop wallpaper) because it's the first thing you see when you wake up (sometimes). The average person unlocks their phone about 110 times per day, according to Apple- which is A LOT, when you think about it, so you'd better make it count and have a cute, inspirational wallpaper waiting for you.

10 Inspirational Blogs That I Love

Thursday, January 21, 2016

As a blogger and an avid reader, you can probably imagine how much I read other people's blogs- basically, whenever I can. When I finish a blog post, I head straight for my favorite blogs to see what they've been posting lately. These are all inspirational to me personally in some way, whether they be inspiring me to get outside and take a walk or to stay inside and write that blog post once and for all. Also, completely unrelated- have you noticed that Friday is quickly approaching? I think the lack of school on Monday is making my week surprisingly better- like an extra Friday, almost.

1. A Girl, Obsessed

This blog is amazing, I've been reading it for almost a year now and it's great. I'm not one for beauty blogs, really, but she posts more than beauty- she posts tips on blogging & lifestyle, too. Her latest post is How to Battle a Bad Skin Day.

2. The Dainty Squid

Free stock photo of sea, nature, ocean, bayOkay, this has got to be one of my favorite blogs of all time- and by far my favorite on this list. I love her Friday Favorites posts, and I used to LOVE LOVE LOVE her 365 challenge results, but she's not doing it this year *cry cry cry*. Kayla writes a lot about her explorations of abandoned places, and her latest post is Exploring Akron

3. chibird

Free stock photo of city, sky, sunset, lightsI discovered chibird one day because I'd been seeing her adorable little drawings all over the interwebs, so I checked her out on Tumblr, and every couple of days or so she posts little affirmations of life- I assure you she will make you more positive ever day. Her latest post is It takes some pain and struggles to really grow

4. Thirteen Thoughts

Free stock photo of sky, sunset, beach, people
This is one of the blogs I started reading more recently, back in November or so (maybe December??? I can't remember honestly) but I think she's honestly a really great writer and I'll be reading her for a long time. Also, this blog kind of reminds me of AGO a little bit? Paula also writes about beauty and lifestyle, and her latest post is How to Stay Sane When Sh*t Hits the Fan

5. Wonderlass

This blog I just started reading last week, I discovered it on Pinterest and was instantly hooked. Her vast library of resources and blogging tips is addicting, and her internal links will leave you clicking on one post after another. Did I mention her personality leaks through the page and straight into your heart like a cold glass of lemonade? The humor and likability is refreshing, to tell the truth.

6. It's Not Her, It's Me

I've been reading this blog for a while now- probably a year now, and I have to say that I love it and keep on coming back for more every now and then! Toshiko is a fashion blogger living in the bay area of San Francisco, and occasionally blogs about her travels, too. Her latest post is Farmhouse Inn Part 1: Home Away from Home

7. Fat Mum Slim

Free stock photo of coffee, cup, cappuccino, caféAside from TDS, this is my favorite blog on here- maybe even more than TDS. I've been reading this blog for years, and Chantelle has never failed to make me fall in love with her blog over and over. She also hosts a Facebook group called FMS Photo a Day, where every day there's a prompt and you post a picture going along with it. Her latest post is Healthy Sweet Potato & Tuna Croquettes Recipe

8. A Beautiful Mess
Free stock photo of flowers, plant, close-up view, orange

ABM is one of the most popular and amazing crafts & DIY blogs out there, and you probably already know about them so I won't say much. Basically, they have more than one app (both photo editing), tons of eCourses, two mail subscription services and are in the process of writing a cookbook- did I mention they are the scrapbook queens? Their latest post is Try This: Potato Stamped Curtain Panel Tutorial

9. Wonder Forest

Free stock photo of landscape, mountain, hutThe Wonder Forest is a blog I've been reading for ages. After discovering them on Pinterest (like all of the other blogs I discover basically), the thing about the blog that really got me hooked was her title on the blog. It was painted with watercolors, and I loved that she'd done that herself. She also has various watercolor video tutorials on YouTube, and a bunch of blogging tips on her blog. Her latest post is How to Manage Your Expectations and Avoid Dissapointment

10. Elle & Company Design

Free stock photo of nature, forest, trees, houseOkay, this is one of those blogs that has literally everything when it comes to blogging tips. I've found tips on designing a logo, blog post ideas, online courses and every single thing you need to know about managing your own business. They're extremely professional, and pretty much the GODS of blogging- I love it. They're latest post is 40 Easy, Engaging Video Content Ideas for Your Creative Business.

All of these blogs are beautiful and inspiring, and are written by the best of people- you won't be disappointed when you click these links. Also, don't forget to follow them on Bloglovin'! Stock photos used in this post are courtesy of Pexels

FREE Inspirational Desktop Background!

Thursday, December 3, 2015

Hey, guys! A couple of months ago I was watching one of my favorite YouTubers, MyLifeAsEva, and she actually inspired me to make this. It was her "Make 2015 YOUR Year" video, and she was talking about how you could make a really pretty and trendy desktop background for yourself just by saving a few inspirational photos and then going on PicMonkey and making it into a DIY background for your desktop/laptop/iPhone/etc. I had a lot of fun saving cool pictures I found on Pinterest, and then finally putting them into one big collage. You can do this, too, if you don't like what I put together! You can download this and save it as a background, and if anyone compliments it, just give me credit ;)

Cork Board Inspiration

Thursday, October 8, 2015

So have you seen all the cork board stuff on Pinterest?? It's practically going viral. I love cork boards, because they're so versatile, you can do practically anything with them. You can have a fabric-covered cork board, paint a cork board, glue it onto certain items (magazine holder, inside of cupboards, boxes and other containers, etc.), and so much more and then take a couple of push pins and throw up some photos, maybe posters, drawings, little reminders. It's really simple and they look really nice in your home. Here's some more inspiration:

corkboard stencil, and paint frame--supercute project for cheapo corkboard from walmart!: Paint your cork board with a stencil of your choice! Maybe put your logo on it? Paint the corners, paint stripes, paint different sections for different things. Make a rainbow cork board? The possibilities are endless.

You could also glue down fabric for a really personalized board- this tutorial can help you with that.

"my so called home" hanging measuring spoons and cups is great idea for small kitchen spaces. no digging!: Like I said above, glue it to the inside of a cupboard and BOOM! Maximum storage, you're welcome. Take up a grocery list, measuring cups (as shown in photo), maybe a coupe of photos or articles to read while you rifle around looking for that bag of marshmallows you swear you bought last week but maybe they didn't make it home?

Did I mention cork board is washi tape friendly? Tape down a cute pattern in your favorite washi tape. Maybe just do the borders, or perhaps an intricate design of your choice. The ideas go on and on...

I forgot to talk about this above, but you could take multiple boards and paint diagonal stripes on them to make something really cool looking, like in the photo below. I think it looks amazing, especially with the white.

Turn cheap Norrlida frames ($12.99) into cork boards. | 37 Cheap And Easy Ways To Make Your Ikea Stuff Look Expensive: Did you know that you can buy really cool push pins just to make your cork board that much more awesome?? Either that,or you can DIY them with a few rhinestones and some E6000 glue. Maybe try faux (small) flowers? Perhaps small knickknacks, such as little foods, and every time you run out of a certain food (such as milk) you can still a miniature milk on a pushpin and stick it on your board.

What you could also do with that E6000 glue you have on hand from the push pins is glue a couple of tacks onto clothes hangers, stick those onto your board, put up some twine, and use the clips to hang little Polaroids! Wouldn't that we super cute? (spoiler- it would)

So that's all I have to talk about today but stay tuned for a Friday DIY round up tomorrow because I cannot WAIT! It's gonna be awesome. So yeah, stay tuned. Thanks for reading!

Art Journaling Inspiration

Thursday, May 14, 2015

Keeping an art journal is a great way to maintain a creative mind. They have been called a bunch of different things on Pinterest, such as art journals, art books, smash books, inspiration book, etc. You can call it whatever you want, and if you don't know how to make one, here are  few tips: simply grab a regular old sketchbook from the art store. Nothing fancy, but a hardcover works well. Then, get all your art supplies together and decorate every single page to your heart's content! Do anything you want- paint, draw, sketch, paste, cut, etc.; your creativity is the limit! One of the funnest things to do with art books is make them out of actual books- grab an old book either of your own or from a thrift store- not a picture book, but a big book with mostly words. Now use that as your surface! I did that in art class, and it was one of the best projects I've ever done. Here's some more inspiration for your pages:

Drawing Inspiration - great exercise for improving drawing skills for anyone regardless of skill.1. Draw the outline of a spider on a page, put some glue in it, and sprinkle tea leaves on it- it will look like a tarantula! This is a great one for young children, but also people who just like spiders or have a tarantula (I WANT ONE).

2. Like in the photo to the right, draw a few boxes- however many you want- and fill them all with different things, like patterns and designs, words, etc. Give them some color, and viola!

3. Write a favorite recipe on a page in black marker- big enough so that ti covers the whole page- and then watercolor over it lightly. It adds a small splash of color and hunger.

4. Collage a few photos in there and write captions around them- if you'd like, write on the photos themselves.

5. Use tape in an old book or newspaper to pick up words and phrases straight from the paper- I love this technique, I have used it many times!

6. Watercolor or put random paint on a page, then use a white gel pen to write over it, draw designs on it, etc. (Cover the whole page with paint)

7. Write in a 30 day drawing challenge that you made up for others to see, then use the next 30 days & pages to demonstrate the prompts.

That's all I have for right now, but trust me, I'll be posting more soon upon request. (There have been multiple requests in person & by email) Thanks for reading!

6 Things to Do Outside in the Spring

Tuesday, April 7, 2015

It's been Spring for a while now, and if you're somewhere where it's warm enough to be outside and be happy, then here are a couple of games that are great for playing outside in the spring time. Here in Oregon, though, it snowed last night- which is huge, because it did NOT snow all Winter long, so the minute it starts getting warm and sunny (it has been warm and sunny a couple of times) Oregon decides "Oh okay then here, be happy for the flowers it's Spring now LET IT SNOWWW!!!". That's Oregon- all year round. But while we recover from the freeze, you can play these fun games outside... in your warm weather, that we don't have.

1. Blind tag. This is an awesome game for 2 or more people, but is played best with 3 or more people. It's really quite simple- first, make a large circle (about 15 feet in diameter) out of rocks/sticks/etc. Now, choose one person to be "it", and blindfold that person. The people that are being chased are not allowed to run, though; they must walk, and if it comes to it, speed walk. This game is great for all ages and is also fun for playing on a trampoline; just be extra safe.

2. Outdoor tic tac toe. This one is super simple to make, and you can have fun with it all Spring and all Summer, too. All you need is an old stump in your yard or an old table, some small rocks, some paint/Sharpies, and something to carve with (optional). First, either carve out the tic tac toe squares onto the stump or draw it out with a Sharpie. Now, take those rocks and paint them as little lady bugs and little bumble bees- these will be the X's and the O's. Now you can play tic tac toe forever with that cute little set you just made!

3. Hide and seek in the dark- this has always been my favorite game for the Spring and Summer time. I've played it a lot with my best friends, and one time, my cat scared us so bad when we were hiding that we thought she was a mountain lion. This game is the same thing as regular hide and seek, except you play it outside (when it's dark, of course) and with flashlights. I think you get the gist of it- have fun!

4. Corn race. This game is awesome for all ages because it teaches kids about plants and gardening, and it's just so much fun to care for something. The corn race is when 2 or more people (it's just fun with 3, though) plant corn and see whose corn grows to be the tallest. They have to care for it themselves everyday, and then in the end, they harvest it. It's just a lot of fun to watch it grow and have fun with it, like giving it different fertilizers and decorating the area around it.

5. Make a secret hideaway. This game is great for not-as-little kids, probably aged 6-10 and that are allowed to wander around the woods around the house together. I used to do this all the time- just find a special little spot in the woods, like a little clearing but with some trees, and make it your hideaway. Put up "keep out" signs, maybe a bench or something (some chairs), and if the trees are strong enough, a tire swing or perhaps a hammock. It's just fun.

6. Paint rocks. This is fun for the younger kids (and maybe a couple of older kids, I dunno) to be artistic and have a little pet rock for the Spring. They can paint the rocks to look like anything- owls, bees, ladybugs, cats, bunnies, or just something abstract. I really want to do this, I just need the right supplies. There's some inspiration in the photo.

I hope you like these ideas, and if you try any of them out, leave a comment telling me what you thought. I hope you have a great Spring :)
