6 DIYs for Kids

Wednesday, October 14, 2015

Hey guys, Happy Hump Day! I thought that even though I have a DIY roundup coming up the day after tomorrow I could still share a couple of DIYs because that's what this blog is all about. I've been really wanting to share my Spotify playlists with you by embedding the actual playlist onto a post like A Beautiful Mess did here, but I can't do it via mobile and in order to do it on my laptop I'd have to download the Spotify app which is so much of a hassle that maybe I'll just list the songs in another post. But here are a couple of DIYs great for kids (and adults)~

DIY kids teepee instructions - sew and no sew variations. Super easy and cheap to make!: 1. Marshmallow Shooters by Coffee Cups and Crayons

2. DIY Kids Teepee by The Thud (as shown in photo)

3. Kids Fingerprint Christmas Ornament by The Happier Homemaker

4. The 30-Minute Beanbag Chair by Project Nursery

5. Kids Mason Jar Aquarium by DIY Ready

6. DIY Knot Headbands by The Girl Inspired

I know Christmas is still a few months away (still on Haloween, over here) but I'm sorry that Christmas ornament is adorable and simply belongs on your tree this year. Thanks for reading!

5 Creative Writing Prompts for Kids

Monday, August 17, 2015

So, last week, I did a post on creative journaling prompts for kids, and this week I decided to do something a lot like it because it was fun to do and I think kids of all ages should get in the habit of writing more, especially creative writing, and these prompts are the perfect things to get them started. I've been trying to make my intros a little shorter because I feel like sometimes I spend too much time on it and it can get longer than the actual post- so let's get to the prompts? (Note: I made all of these up, it was so much fun!! c:)

1. You are stuck on an island with these things- 5 books, 5 foods, 2 people, and 1 other item of your choice. What do you choose and why?

2. If you could invent one useful item and make billions of dollars off of it, what would it be and why?

3. "The pandas were angry. The sky darkened as we began to fun, their foot steps getting closer... We never should have taken their time machine."

4. You can create your own school- what is it like? Consider these questions: what subjects are there to teach, where is it located, who teaches there (celebrities?), and what does it look like? How do you fit in (e.g. student, principal, professor, etc.)

5. You have invented a time machine using a stolen robot battery. It only has enough power to take you to 5 different times & back- where do you go, what do you do, and why?

It seems as though the magic word today is why hahaha. I loved coming up with these and I'm hoping to do 5 more in the future to come. Thanks for reading!

7 Awesome Chore Chart Printables for Kids

Wednesday, August 12, 2015

School is just around the corner, and so everyone is really getting back into routine, and not that we don't use chore charts in the summer time (we don't because we're more relaxed, but we still do our chores), but the school year is really the best time to hang one up on the fridge. I love completing all of my chores every week, and then getting an allowance at the end. I just love to see all of my accomplishments up on the fridge! But if you aren't the DIY type for chore charts (like me), then maybe you'd go for some printables like the ones I've picked out below. Enjoy~
Mrs. This and That: Free chore chart printable...would be cute to put in a frame or laminate for multiple uses

1. Free Chore Chart Printable (as shown in photo) by Mrs. This and That

2. Simple Chore + Reward System Your Kids Will Love by Clean Mama

3. FREE Kids Chore Chart Printable by Simply Designing with Ashley

4. Printable Chore Chart by A Girl Named PJ

5. Free Printable: Kids Chore Charts by Pinch a Little Save a Lot

6. Friday's Freebie: Kids Printable Chore Charts by I Should Be Mopping the Floor

7. Minecraft Inspired Free "Chorecraft" Chore Chart Printable by Motherhood Unadorned

That last one was so cute I just had to add it because I thought it would really help some kids to do their chores, some kids that love Minecraft so much they would use a chore chart that is Minecraft-themed. Thanks for reading!
