10 Recipes for Labor Day Weekend '16
Monday, September 5, 2016
Yay, it's LABOR DAY WEEKEND!!!! AKA the best weekend of them all. It's the most notorious weekend of the summer for being filled with shaved ice, BBQs and just chilling. I don't know about you, but where I live we have a small (and I mean SMALL) Labor Day festival for the whole weekend at a local park and it's something to look forward to. But if you're staying home today, then here are a couple of recipes to make this summer holiday even better!
1. Hawaiian Chicken Bacon Pineapple Kababs by FIRST for Women
2. No-Bake S'mores Cheesecake (as shown in photo) by Cooking with Cakes
3. Summer Fruit Salsa by Homemade Interest
4. Mac and Cheese Muffins by DIY Joy
5. Chocolate chip Cookie Dough Flag Dip by Mom on Timeout
6. Patriotic Pies in a Jar by The Nerds Wife
7. Patriotic Popcorn by Stagetecture
8. Key Lime Pie Dip by Wishes n Dishes
9. Loaded Baked Potato Dip by Baked Bree
10. Grilled Blooming Onion by Diethood
Alrighty, now I have to face the fact that I have school tomorrow- and the only good part about that is cute locker magnets and school supplies. BUT 5:30 IN THE MORNING? No.....

7 DIY T-Shirts for Spring 2016
Thursday, April 28, 2016
There are so many crop tops out there and Brandy Melville tees that can get extremely pricey- and if you're not willing to pick up a couple of five-dollar Old Navy tees, then what are you gonna do, not wear a shirt?? (Don't do that.) So I thought, since I can't just hand out illegal coupon codes, then what better way to give the world awesome, affordable tees for spring (which is halfway over apparently)?
1. DIY Bleach Pen Tank Top by The Wedding Chicks
2. Side Crocheted Tank by Trash to Couture
3. How to Cut a T-Shirt Into a Crop-top (as shown in photo) by Tomboy Vintage
4. Butterfly Twist Back Tee by Trash to Couture
5. DIY Tied-Back Workout Shirt by Society 19
6. Stormtrooper Cut Out Shirt by Cut Out & Keep
7. DIY Ombre Tank by Vita Dolce Sarah
Yay, these are so cute! Also, don't forget to look on YouTube- there are dozens of Tumblr-inspired DIY tees out there, so I might post a few later? ;)

My Realistic Everyday Morning Routine 2016
Wednesday, February 24, 2016
If you've been on YouTube lately (or ever) then you know that tons of girly YouTubers love to post their morning, day, and night routines. They're super popular and really fun to watch, so I thought I'd start a tradition where every year/season I could post a morning routine and maybe even a night routine. Sorry I haven't posted the last two days but I've been sick :( Enjoy~
-The first thing I do every morning when I wake up at 7:30 am is make my bed- no matter what, I make sure it looks nice before I get out of it. Even though no one can see it and no one knows you did it, YOU know you did it and it makes you feel like a good person.
-I like to get dressed as soon as possible because it honestly makes me feel more productive, and besides there's no point in sitting around in your pajamas all day (like someone I know...).
-Next, I just do my makeup (light mascara) and hair (brush, dry shampoo, style if necessary) and head downstairs to start my day.
-It's about 7:40 now, so I turn my computer on and make myself a steaming cup of Prince of Whales Premium Black Tea so that I can get to work. This can take a while sometimes because this is around the time my cat wants to come inside and bug everyone and ask to come in and out a million times a second. Did I mention she needs to be fed?
-Next I start writing my blog post, which can take anywhere from fifteen to thirty minutes, depending on the number of distractions and how long it is.
-When I finish my blog post, it's about 8:15 am so I get my shoes and jacket on, but there's no hurry because we don't leave for another 20 minutes and my sister takes forever to get ready. It takes her a half an hour on average to get ready, so we all wait and wait and wait for her.
-Finally I leave for school at around 8:35 am and even though it was only an hour long, it felt like a good, long morning.
So that's my complete morning routine, and I can't wait to do another one for the summer time and a night routine as well. Happy Hump Day!

My Blog Resolutions for 2016
Tuesday, January 5, 2016
It's a new year (well, five days into it at least) and with a new year comes new goals and resolutions. I already shared my New Years Resolutions (here) but in that list I didn't include my resolutions for my blog. There's a lot that I want to happen this year, because I feel like 2016 is going to finally be the big step for Rain on a Metal Roof. I can't wait for all of this to happen, and I wonder if I'll do all of these this year. I hope I complete all of them by June-Julyish so that I can come up with new ones and complete those by NYE.
-Be more social. I always read my blogs on Bloglovin, where you can't leave comments or really share anything, so maybe after I write my daily blog post in the morning I could spend about 10 minutes just discovering new blogs and leaving comments and writing nice emails.
-Try to start blogging daily! The only days I do not blog are Saturday and the WOTW on Sunday, which is ironic because those are the days when I have more time. I know daily blogging can be a big commitment, but after a year of blogging 5 days per week I feel like I can take it on.
-Get into the habit of sharing my posts to Pinterest and Facebook every day. Some days I just forget, and as soon as I hit "Publish" I just want to close my laptop and fall right back asleep, not to mention all of the distractions on my phone. Sharing my posts every day is going to make a big impact.
-Learn new, free ways to promote my blog. If no one knows it's there, it's not going to be found, so I need to figure out new ways to put it "out there" because otherwise I'm just talking to myself!
-Use better fonts in my blogging pictures! This is super irrelevant, but STORY TIME: So, NYE, you may have noticed I changed the blog title to a new font. Boring, right? Well, super exciting for me.... I used Picmonkey to do that, even though Picmonkey doesn't even have that font. I downloaded it and figured out how to use it under "My Fonts" on Picmonkey (more complicated process than I thought it would be), which is super exciting for me because do you have any idea how many free fonts I've downloaded in anticipation of using them? A lot.
-Use Pexels for my blog photos A LOT MORE OFTEN! They have high quality stock photos that I fell in love with as soon as I saw them, but I usually just find stock photos on Pinterest and use them, which is way harder than actually just going to a stock photo site. I LOVE PEXELS <3 b="">3>
Those are my blog resolutions for2015 2016 (I'm gonna be writing 2015 for the next 3 months probably....) so far, what do you have planned for your blog this year? Tell me in the comments below.
xx Savannah

DIY 2016 Memories Jar
Monday, January 4, 2016
Happy 2016! Every year is jam-packed with trends, memories, and little things that made you laugh, but sometimes you just don't remember them at the end of the year because 365 days to remember can be a lot. So, combining the ideas on Pinterest and those put out by YouTubers, I came up with this cute and simple solution. This is really easy and I think you'll like it a lot and want to try it for yourself~
Step 1: Gather your supplies. For this craft, you will need...
-A mason jar, or any other kind of jar, preferably big.
-Some cute construction papers and/or card stock in pretty colors that you'd like to look at every day.
-A pen; use gel pens to make it really fun!
*Optional: some washi tape, to decorate the jar, because why not? You could also use other tapes and cute stickers, plus you could cut pictures out of magazines and mod podge them on there. The possibilities are endless!
Step 2: Cut up your papers into little strips, about half an inch by three inches, or whatever you prefer (I just thought these would be good sizes for a sentence or two).
Step 3: Now, if you have the washi tape/tape/stickers/pictures then you can stick those on there right about now. Make it your own, and make it pretty- you'll be looking at this every day! Maybe print out some inspirational quotes from Pinterest then you'll love seeing it when you wake up.
Now you're done! You could even add a separate jar for the papers, if you'd like. Just keep a pen nearby and every time something happens that you want to remember at the end of the year, like something you laughed at so hard you snorted, or maybe a vacation you took (I can never remember where I went that year!), or something you learned. Plus, you could add little trinkets and items that have meaning (e.g. a bracelet you got in Mexico, or the horn from your NYE party, or a bottle cap from your favorite drink- in my sister's case, she brought home the lid from a cup of ice cream we got in Santa Clara before going to a concert, it said CHERRY GARCIA!).
So these jars are actually really cute and helpful. But I have a challenge for you- can you put a paper in there for every single day of the year? Even if you didn't even do anything that day, just write something- like, "I ate toast". See if you can do it as many days as possible!

My New Years Resolutions for 2016
Thursday, December 31, 2015
2016 is just around the corner! Just think- 9 hours from now, it's be a whole new year, and 2015 will merely be a thing of the past. I can't wait to have a new start and finally celebrate! I can remember last New Years Eve just like it was yesterday, every moment of it. The freezing temperatures as we stood outside on the lawn, barefoot with puffy coats and sparklers, counting down until the new year was upon us, and then screaming at the top of our lungs as we lit our sparklers and took our first deep breath of 2015 air. Here are my resolutions for 2016, and I'm positive I'll be able to accomplish them this year.
-Write 3 times a week.
-Blog every day.
-Do an exercise routine 2-3 times a week.
-Brush teeth more often.
-Drink more water.
-Try going to sleep earlier.
-Walk/hike more often.
-Clean out inbox (!)
-Get a 30+ day streak on Duolingo.
-Clean and organize more .
-Advertise on Pinterest + Facebook more often.
-Take some time for myself and just listen to music and relax.
Those are my 2016 New Years Resolutions, and I want to finish at least 2/3 of them because I feel like I don't complete what I set out to complete enough. Happy New Years Eve, I hope you have a great night and I'll see you NEXT YEAR!

6 Best Planners for 2016
Monday, December 7, 2015
Hey, guys! 2016 is on its way here and it's just speeding on over here, and it's gonna be the new year before you know it. I'm a bit crazy- I love planners, and stationary, and office supplies... All of it. So if you're like me and might need a new planner for 2016, in addition to a plain old calendar, then I've picked out some of the best ones out there- all for you guys.

1. Kikki K (as shown in photo #1)
This one is an essential, you can't really go wrong with Kikki K, and they're planner are just perfect for everything. I'm right handed, so I don't mind that it's spiral bound; in fact, I like it even more. Cost: $44.95
2. Erin Condren Life Planner
Okay, this one is the business. Now we're gettin real. Erin Condren planners are for those people who are truly passionate about their planning, as these are about the best thing you can get. Erin Condren pretty much just ruled out the rest of the competition. Cost: $50.00
3. Typo Undated Weekly Planner
This one is great for a lot of things, like maybe planning out blog posts- and the amazing thing about it is that it doesn't even have any dates on it. Because of this, you could start it now, or March, or skip months, or do whatever you want. It's cheaper than most, so you're just investing in convenience, pretty much. It'll work for years and years because you can ski months here and there and still be able to use it next time. Cost: $19.99
4. The Daily Dream Creator (as shown in photo #2)
If you're all about dreams and astrology and making things happen, then this planner is for you! It's got little places and spaces for brainstorming and your astrology dates and stuff. My mum would like this.... Cost: $44.95
5. Emily Ley
Again, this one is spiral bound, something I kind of like in a planner- I just don't mind it, seeing as I'm right handed. These ones sell out pretty fast, but they're gorgeous, despite that they're a little on the pricier side. I'd definitely go this route. On a chart, I'd say they're right below Erin Condren planners. Cost: $58.00

6. Collective 2016 Diary (as shown in photo #3)
This one comes out the second least expensive, but it's still pretty nice. Collective Diaries are from Australia, unfortunately, so they won't get to the U.S. on time for Christmas but they're still gonna make a nice New Year's gift. Cost: $22.27
These are all so gorgeous and anyone who owns one is likely to have a great year, not to mention one filled with "Hey, where did you get that diary?" if you have the Erin Condren.
