7 DIY EOS Lip Balm, Etc. Tutorials

Thursday, June 30, 2016

By far, the most common YouTube tutorials on the planet, besides probably bath bombs (though those usually stick to the other side of the internet, AKA Pinterest) is EOS lip balms. Sure, you can buy them, but only the common peasants do that nowadays. I'm gonna warn you, not all of these are lip balm..... People are getting more and more creative and it's scaring me.

4. Cupcake EOS Lip Balm by Gillian Bower

5. DIY EOS Highlighter Pen by Kimspired DIY

6. Pumpkin Spice EOS Lip Balm by Karina Garcia

7. DIY Ombre EOS Lip Balm by Cute DIY Projects

Fun fact that is super obvious and yet nobody knows: EOS stands for Evolution of Smooth. I'm shocked by the number of people that don't even know this and yet call themselves EOS professionals.... Do you even EOS?

5 of My Favorite Summer Beauty Products

Tuesday, July 7, 2015

So, it's pretty much Summer time, the month being July- but the arrival of summer does not remove the arrival of a beauty routine in the morning. It just changes the routine. And I can't wait for tomorrow's routine, because tomorrow is my BIRTHDAY! And I hope I get lots of beauty products, not that my collection isn't big enough (which it isn't). Also, when I make this list, you might wonder- why are these products so different from beauty products for the rest of the year? Well, these are pretty much sweat-resistant (mostly) and sometimes waterproof, and I really love them because they're super simple! Simplicity is the key to summertime when you put on makeup. You don't see girl running around with smokey eyes, do you? Nah, that's a fall thing. So here are some SUMMER things~

1. The Naked Bee Orange Blossom Honey Hand & Body Lotion

So, my best friend gave me a little tube of this for my birthday about a week ago, and I have literally fallen IN LOVE with it. The smell, I'm not gonna lie, is amazing. You can get an 8 oz bottle from amazon for about $14, and even though my birthday is tomorrow, I have GOT to order some more already! I am wearing this right now and every 5 seconds I can't help but smell my hand. It keeps my hands super moisturized, especially when it's super hot and dry out, and it lasts for a few hours. I NEED MOAR THOUGH!!! (thanks bestie, you know who you are ;))

2. Rue Beaute! Watermelon Coral Lip Gloss

I'm super sorry I don't have a link for this one, but you can probably find it at your local Rue21, where my other best friend went to get this for me. I'm wearing it right now, and I must say, the color is amazing. Coral is one of my favorite colors, and I love the way it looks on my lips with my skin tone, so I highly recommend this. The taste is awesome, unlike most high end lip glosses, so it's like one of those cheap little Strawberry Shortcake tubes of gloss you'd get when you were younger, but this time it's actually real and amazing.

3. Urban Decay Naked Basics

I really can't get enough of this! It's super simple (perfect for summer) and totally neutral for everyone who likes that in a pallet. My mum and I share a pallet. W.O.S., one of the lighter shades, totally matches my skin tone, and that makes me really happy because most shades are too dark for me or too orange- ugh. I find myself using it as a concealer and eyeshadow, which is what it's made for, and I would honestly order some more if I were running out, and I'm not running out. You can get one for around $29 from Sephora, and yes, I just added it to my "loves" list.

4. Philosophy Amazing Grace Stain-Finish Body Mist

I seriously asked for an entire bottle of this stuff for my birthday because the smell is just totally to die for. My mum bought a bottle, so I tried it out a few times, and now I find myself using it day after day, and now I need some of my own so I don't end up using all of hers. Honestly, this is perfect for all-year round, but I added it to this list because it really is an essential for the summer time. It long lasting, and so fragrant that you can smell it from a mile away! I recommend you try it out.

5. L.A. Colors Color Craze Orchid Nail Polish

I am wearing this color on my nails right now and can truly say this color has been bumped to my favorites list. Again, my best friend got me this for my birthday (the same friend that got me the lotion) and I finally found the time to put it on a few days ago. SPOILER- now I never want to take it off! It is the perfect shade of pinkish-purply godliness. I have always loved L.A. Colors nail polish because it isn't thin like every other brand I have, and milky and gross, but it goes on the nail soooo evenly and easily. If you haven't tried this brand before, it is high-quality and I love the colors. Get yourself a bottle, preferably in this color or sea-siren (my other favorite!).

If you're looking for some of the best sites to order beauty products and cosmetics, then I recommend Sephora and Live Love Polish. Sephora has everything you could possibly think of for a good price, and Live Love Polish is everything nail polish. My favorite nail art Youtuber is Simply Nailogical, I've been watching her a lot lately. Thanks for reading!

10 Quick Tips About Nail Art

Saturday, June 20, 2015

It's Nail Art Saturday again, but this time, in addition to posting pictures to inspire your inner manicurist, I've got a list of 10 tips that will both help you and give you ideas that you wonder why you didn't think of them first. Last week, I used Scotch tape to make geometric accent nails with blue & white, and then painted the rest aquamarine- they came out fabulous and salon-perfect! I just love having dazzling nails because it just kind of makes my day. But, now they're chipping a little bit, and I need to start over, but I don't have much time, so maybe writing this post will motivate me a little bit! (And maybe it will motivate you, too)

Make your own nail decals using the plastic baggie method.1. Make awesome polka-dots with the tip of a bobby pin, as apposed to one of those nail art tools, because bobby pins are cheaper and you probably already have them in your hair (right now).

2. Add some corn starch to a bottle of clear nail polish for a DIY matte top coat. Instructions here.

3. Use the plastic baggy method (pictured to the right) and make some cute nail decals! This would be great for making letters and intricate designs.

4. Use a Band-Aid to create easy polka dots without the extra concentration needed with a bobby pin.

5. You can also use a mechanical pencil to make really tiny dots.

6. Paint over lace or mesh to create an easy design, recommended with white nail polish.

7. Use a white base coat to actually make neon nail polish really POP.

8. Write on your nails with a Sharpie; I do this all the time with my metallic Sharpies, it works great and lasts a really long time!

9. Use an old fan bush to create a striped effect.

10. Finally, stuff a sponge in a jar and soak it in nail polish remover or acetone to make a super easy DIY nail polish remover.

So, what do you think? Inspiring enough for your next manicure session, or are you headed for the salon? Thanks for reading!
