8 Home Decor DIYs Just Because
Thursday, August 4, 2016
Spring cleaning shouldn't be the only time of year when you clean out your home and get things organized once and for all- honestly, you should do it in all seasons of the year. But once you get rid of the things you don't want/need and you've cleaned up a bit, then your house could look a bit boring. Some say it's minimalistic, but it's boring. DIY home decor to the rescue!
1. Shibori Style Duvet Cover (as shown in photo) by A Beautiful Mess
2. DIY Rifle Paper Co. Clock by Henry Happened
3. Honeycomb Garland DIY by Oh Happy Day!

5. No-Sew Pillow by POPSugar Home
6. Geometric Organization Inspiration Board by A Bubbly Life
7. DIY Pom Pom Pillow by The Hunted Interior
8. Cork Storage Box by Sugar and Cloth
I love the idea of a geometric inspiration board, but I don't love the way they did it. I'd like to make my own with cork board and push pins, and then set it up someplace in my room rather than where I work. Overall, the concept is wonderful and I can't wait to make my own!

10 DIY Spring-Themed Party Decorations
Tuesday, April 5, 2016
Pinterest (and Instagram, as I've discovered) are just sooooo full of party supplies. Like, it's not even funny- I went on a following binge yesterday morning, as those of you following me on Twitter probably know, and I followed about 20 party supply store accounts. This got me thinking that there are some pretty cute DIY party supplies out there, many of them spring-themed, so why not share them with the world?
1. Melting Ice Cream Party Hats by Oh Happy Day!
2. DIY Bubblegum Garland by A Subtle Revelry
3. Party Hat Garland Tutorial (as shown in photo) by The House That Lars Built
4. Fruit-Inspired Mini Party Hats by Studio DIY
5. Mini Rainbow Balloon Arch DIY by Oh Happy Day!
6. Easy Sew Party Garlands by Tell Love and Chocolate
7. Pom Pom Cake Topper by How to Delineate Your Dwelling
8. DIY Splatter Paint Balloons by Studio DIY
9. Disco Ball Balloon Weights by A Bubbly Life
10. DIY Balloon Grape Cluster by Celebrations at Home
On the subject of splatter painting (the splatter painted balloons above, which, by the way, are sooooo cute!), I was splatter painting earlier today and was corrected on what terms I was using- it's actually primarily called "action painting", not splatter painting. I have NEVER heard it said that way, nor will I probably ever use that term... It sounds like karate painting.

Declutter Your Life Part 1: Phone & Email
Monday, January 25, 2016
Even if you're the cleanest, most organized person, your phone and email can be the most cluttered things in your whole life. Inboxes get unorganized so easily, because every day you have new emails coming in at you without even giving you a chance to stop them. And your phone (especially if you have kids) can get cluttered quickly because there are so many apps and music and videos it can all form a big ball and run down your memory, just like in Raiders of the Lost Ark with that big boulder chasing Indiana Jones.
EMAIL
-First, you're gonna want to unsubscribe from as much as you can- that's where Unroll.Me comes in handy. Unroll.Me is the most helpful app ever, because it helps you unsubscribe, roll up, and keep all of the emails you've been meaning to tackle for months. Here's how it works- you just sign into your email, and then swipe away all of the emails you want to unsubscribe from, and roll up the ones you want to read, and keep the ones you want to stay subscribed to. You need to be ruthless- remember, if you miss it, you can always subscribe again.
-Try to reply to emails ASAP. If not, then the sender will become frustrated/impatient and maybe even forget all about it if you leave it in your inbox for a week. As soon as you see an email for work/etc. then reply to it, if you can't, then leave yourself an important note on your phone/stick a sticky note to your computer or something. Leaving it there will cause it to become buried and you'll forget about it.
-Finally, go in once a week and delete as much as you can. Whether you have 5 minutes or 25 minutes, delete everything that isn't important from all of your folders. My social one is just all YouTube, telling me every single day when a YouTuber uploads something. But try to build a routines of this, going in and cleaning things out and making sure it's organized.
*Just one little tip that will make checking your email sooooo much better- if you use Gmail, then click on the little settings drop bar in the top right corner, and select "Themes". There are so many beautiful photos to put behind your inbox- personally, I chose Lake Tahoe, because nature can be really soothing when you're overflowing with emails.

PHONE
-First things first, delete all of those apps you used like crazy for the first hour and haven't touched since you downloaded them. I had quite a few- and most I wasn't worried about, because I could save my progress and if I missed it I could get it again. No, apps don't take up a terrible amount of space at all, but clearing out a few will get you some memory back and plus you'll have room for more.
-Now you're gonna tackle those photos. No, I don't really think you need six pictures of a hamburger, you can't taste something through a photo- and twenty five selfies that mostly look the same? Keep the good ones, delete the bad. What you should really be worried about it your videos- the can take up over 70 MB of space, AKA a lot. Either upload them to your computer or delete them, because honestly I don't think you need them. Finally, upload most of them to your computer, except for the ones you want to keep on your phone for whatever reason.
-You know what also takes up a lot of space besides videos? Music. I only have 7 songs on my phone (the rest is on the cloud, I can download them any time) so I don't have to worry about this as much, I'm talking about you over there who has 8,000 songs- do you listen to them all? Just take off a few every day, and if you really love music, then either buy an iPod just for music or download Spotify, which takes up so much less space and it's cheaper to pay for Premium than it is for 8,000 songs on iTunes.
*Plus, get a wallpaper & lock screen that you actually like- it will make going on your phone so much better, and plus you'll smile every time you look at it.
I really hope these helped you today, and I can't wait to do more of these in the future- it's kind of fun to help people declutter. And if you liked this, then you will LOVE Marie Kondo's book, The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up. It's available on Amazon for about $7.00, and I can't wait to check it out.... as soon as I order it which I haven't done yet.

Monday, December 14, 2015
Hey guys, only 11 MORE DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS! Even if you aren't religious and don't celebrate Christmas, the holidays are surely the most joyful time of year. The carols, the smells, the Starbucks drinks, the movies, the colors.... It just really sets the mood and I'm proud to say that this is my favorite time of year and Christmas is my favorite holiday, so I thought I would set the mood with a couple of cute and easy crafts, and what better than some Christmas tree ornaments?

1. DIY Personalized Christmas Ornaments (as shown in photo) by Pizzazzerie
2. Jingle Bells Christmas Ornament by Whipperberry
3. Hot Chocolate Recycled Ornaments by Mod Podge Rocks
4. DIY: Snow Globe Ornament by No Biggie
5. Felt Gingerbread House Ornament by Cutesy Crafts
6. Pen and Ink Wood Slice Ornaments by 100 Directions
7. Pom Poms + Pine Cones Easy Ornaments by One Little Project
8. "Chalk" Embroidery Mini Hoop Ornaments by Sugar Bee Crafts
9. Glittered Clothespin Snowflakes by Eighteen 25
10. DIY Twig and Wire Christmas Ornaments by Make It and Love It
These are all adorable, and I definitely want to try the twig and wire one because it just looks so rustic! These are all really easy and I'm sure they would be great for all ages in case you want to have an ornament-making party with some friends (some crafts, some hot cocoa, super cozy!). Don't forget to like the Rain on a Metal Roof Facebook page and follow Rain on a Metal Roof Blog on Pinterest- have a warm night!

10 Delicious Thanksgiving Appetizers
Wednesday, November 25, 2015
Thanksgiving is tomorrow (yay)!!! So if you're hosting Thanksgiving at your house this year, or even if you're not, then maybe people start to get a little hangry (hungry + angry) when the turkey isn't ready right away. So instead of the classic bowl of nuts, or plain old potato chips, maybe go the yummy route and prepare something worth munching on. Also, these are all three-ingredient appetizers, so they're as easy as ever!
1. Blue Cheese Pull-Apart Bread by Half-Baked Harvest
2. Cream Cheese Wonton Dip (as shown in photo) by La Creme De La Crumb
3. Goat Cheese Stuffed Mini Peppers by A Spicy Perspective
4. Brie and Cranberry Phyllo Turnovers by Cookin' Canuck
5. Prosciutto Wrapped Asparagus by Culinary Hill
6. 3-Ingredient Hot Caprese Dip by How Sweet Eats
7. Baked Brie with Balsamic Cherries by Averie Cooks
8. Baked Ham & Cheese Rollups by The Comfort of Cooking
9. Spicy Crab Dip by Made From Pinterest
10. Slow Cooker Queso Blanco Dip by Le Creme De La Crumb
These all sound so amazing, and to think they're all only made with three ingredients! Those cream cheese wontons specifically are calling to me, I LOVE cream cheese wontons, and I've never even thought to make them at home even though I make pork wontons all the time. Hungry yet?

Thanksgiving is officially only a mere 17 days away! How are you planning on celebrating this wondrous holiday of feasting? Personally, I'll be going to my grandpa's house with the rest of our family to chow down on the best food you've ever tasted. We'll probably go on a hike the same day, meanwhile all day I'll be keeping track of everything I'm grateful for, and perhaps all that will turn up in a blog post? *wink wink*

2. No Sew Burlap Table Runner by Back to Her Roots

5 DIY Thanksgiving Decor Part 1
Thursday, November 5, 2015
There's only 21 days left until Thanksgiving (the yummiest time of the year!), so I thought that this year if someone is hosting Thanksgiving dinner, they must have to clean their house- that is, unless it's already clean..... But who keeps their house clean all year round??? Instead of cleaning the house, why not just make some snazzy decorations to cover up that mess? Or you can do both, but that's a little too much effort- I would just rather have the kids make the decor and someone else clean the house while mum & dad make dinner. I'm getting too in depth here- let's get to the decor~

2. Fall Candle Centerpiece by That's What Che Said
3. Fall Mason Jar Vases by Anything & Everything
4. DIY Gobble Gobble Gobble Sign by Hometalk
5. Thanksgiving Burlap & Glitter Placecards by Typically Simple
I'm sure you've noticed that at the top it says PART 1! Yep, that means I'm gonna write another one pretty soon! And I can't wait because this was really fun to look for all the cute DIYs and such- and to think I have much more to share. See you tomorrow, for the DIY roundup!

10 DIY Halloween Decorations
Wednesday, October 28, 2015
Halloween is not even around the corner anymore- I was going to say it was around the corner, but it really isn't, because there's only 3 days left- will you survive? I won't, because this afternoon I have to get my braces tightened, which means I will have the worst of pain RETURNING to my mouth for another week. That's 1 week of my life that I'll never get back..... Oh well I'll just eat ice cream and cry over how much taffy I got in my bucket this year. What am I saying- I'm gonna eat that taffy anyway.
1. DIY Cheesecloth Ghosts by Crafts Unleashed
2. Halloween Party Candy Corn Banner by The Pin Junkie
3. DIY Spider Eggs Decor (as shown in photo) by Passionate Penny Pincher

8. Jack Skellington Halloween String Garland by Disney Family
9. Broken Glass Cupcakes by Martha Stewart
10. Make Your Own Glitter Pumpkins by HGTV
I often see people grabbing glitter pumpkins from Michael's and Wal-Mart for like, almost $10, which is ridiculous when you can grab a fake pumpkin and a jar of orange glitter from the craft store for, like, a dollar each. Also, aren't those little Jack Skellingtons adorable??? I always thought he was a pretty cute character. Thanks for reading!

6 Ways to Get a Fall Feeling in Your Home
Tuesday, September 22, 2015
Fall will officially be here tomorrow! I can't wait for cozy nights snuggled up with a good movie, big sweaters, warm cups of tea, and the beautiful colors that fill the air. This is one of the first years that I'm actually excited for fall to come, because I'm usually so melancholy that it's getting cold and summer is leaving and school has to start and also THE COLD, if I didn't mention it already. I hate the cold, and I always have, because in elementary school they use to just shove us outside into the freezing temperatures, whether it was raining, snowing, or just really really cold. I always had tons of jackets to prepare me for what was coming, but it was always just too cold for me. Okay, story time over, time for how to spruce up your home for autumn~
1. Grab a new desktop background! I just changed mine before I wrote this post and I love it. Check some out here, they're really cute, and I like the latte ones!
2. Pick up a COZY!!! blanket, whether it be from Wal-Mart or your attic, and drape it across your sofa. Grab a few and put them in random places- your bed, over chairs, folded up on a chair, or wherever you choose. I've got a couple on the couch and one on my bed, for snuggles.
3. Set out some potpourri and your house will smell AMAZING!! I love potpourri. One year, my mum poked a couple hundred whole cloves into an orange and set it on the kitchen table, and it let off such an aroma that really made our house into a cozy home.
4. GOURDS AND SQUASH!!! Put some in a bowl and boom- Autumn all over the place. You can get a few from your local super market, or if you're like me, grow them yourself.
5. Get rustic! Wood pieces add texture and warmth, so try one all wood piece in a room or maybe wood panel a wall, if your up for it (accent walls rock!).
6. Create an ambiance with a candle. It can really light up a room or at least make it cozy, especially with scents like apple spice and pumpkin pie- yum.
I hope you can use these to make your home as cozy as a bunny snuggling a kitten by the fire while it snows and they're being watched by a baby bear who is KNITTING. That's pretty cozy for ya. Thanks for reading!
