Pros and Cons of Blogging- Part 2

Monday, June 8, 2015

The blogging community is definitely growing a little bit bigger every single day- but the dad part is that most people abandon and stop writing their blogs after about 6 months, or usually even sooner. Yes, there are lots of cons to blogging, just like the fact that it is time consuming and you might forget about it, but those cons are always accompanied by the pros. I've made countless lists of pros and cons, including the pros and cons of blogging, but those were in my own books- so I'll write a post about it to share with you everything you should know, in case you were thinking of starting a blog. And if you are, please don't abandon it after a few weeks, or even months; blogs do not like to be treated in that sense.

PROS
I Make My Living Off a Blog No One's Heard Of #theeverygirl
-It's super easy to start- just choose a platform, such as Blogger, Wordpress, or Tumblr. Once that's done, writing a post is almost as simple as writing an email.
-Blogging creates a sense of a community, and communities love to give feedback, and feedback generates new ideas.
-A blog gives people reason to visit your site and develop a following, and because it's updated frequently, people just keep on coming back.
-A blog is a live archive of inspiration and resources- think of it as a place on the interwebs that has every little tidbit that you have ever loved.

 CONS

-Technical difficulties can take extra time. If your site is down, you could lose followers, and probably money, too. Not to mention they will keep you from posting sometimes- once in a while, Blogger will just stop working, and I will not be able to post anything (sorry!).
-It's time consuming- I have spent hundreds upon hundreds of hours researching and writing a blog post, when I could have been knitting, or making myself a cup of tea.
-A good blog requires regular updates. Yes, write everyday. No, put the cat down and close Facebook. You heard me!
-If a blog is a reflection of your business, do it professionally. Check for spelling and grammar errors, and be sure to check if your photos are high quality and fit the page.

What are your favorite and least favorite parts of blogging? Tell me in the comments below. Thanks for reading!
