Happy Memorial Day! + 5 Things to Do on Memorial Day 2016

Monday, May 30, 2016

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY! I love patriotic holidays, because they're mostly during the summer, so you get to barbecue and eat ice cream and go swimming- they're the best holidays. I love eating watermelon and having a picnic on the lawn all while remembering the fallen soldiers that fought for us- 'MURICA!

So, what else can you do on memorial day besides that?

1. Make homemade ice cream! We usually buy the Nestle Drumstick Ice Creams, because they're easy and you can walk around outside with them, but it would be super fun to make your own red, white & blue sweet treat. Here's a recipe for French vanilla bean ice cream, which could easily be turned patriotic with some red and blue candy, sprinkles, gumballs or just a splash of food coloring here and there- or, you could throw in some strawberries + blueberries afterwards!

2. Go swimming! I can see why this wouldn't be an option if you live in a colder climate, but most regions start warming up this time of year, so jump in the pool, the river, etc- or even just run around in the sprinklers. It's nice to cool off, because there's nothing better than sitting in your towel with a hot dog in your hand as you watch the fireworks.

3. Remember how I mentioned fireworks on the last one? Well, buy some, and set those off! I've always loved the Pop-Its, just don't throw them at someone's feet, or a dog, or another person. Wait until it gets dark, and then go crazy!

4. Go stargazing. You know those cute little blow-up pools that people use for kids they don't want to drown? Just fill one of those with blankets, and you've got the ultimate stargazing bed. I can't wait to try this- I just hope that it's not too cloudy wherever you live!

Hot Off the Grill Cupcakes: 5. Make delicious Memorial Day treats besides the red white and blue ice cream! There's tons to choose from- here's a very incomplete list:

-Hot Off the Grill Cupcakes (as shown in second photo) by Lil Sugar
-Wave the Flag Cupcakes (as shown in photo) by Blueberry Council
-Homemade Mint Lemonade by How Sweet It Is
-Ultimate Red, White + Blue Ice Pops by Poofy Cheeks
-Red, White + Blue Ice Cream Cones by Roxana's Home Baking

Oh my gosh, those hot off the grill cupcakes are so cute and creative! I looooove that. Have a Happy Memorial Day 2016!

Friday DIY Roundup #66

Friday, May 27, 2016

At the beginning of this week, all of my teachers said it would be a quick and easy week- and though I admit it was rather quick, it certainly was not easy, considering I'm testing in most of my classes (not very fun) but today I'm looking forward to seeing Alice Through the Looking Glass in theatres. First, let's start off the weekend with some DIYs!

5 Yummy Cheesecake Recipes

Thursday, May 26, 2016

I looooove cheesecake. You know that episode of FRIENDS where Rachel and Chandler literally fight over cheesecake, then eat it off of the floor? That episode makes my mouth water (ew, not the floor part). I just love the creamy richness, with the deliciously crumbly crust and the sweetness, and the way it's cold and fresh on the tongue- like ice cream cake, but more elegant and rich and creamyyyy.

Sorry I didn't include the classic but oh-so-amazing New York Cheesecake, but I thought that thinking out of the box with some creative flavors was a little more fitting for this blog.

But let's all be honest- those things taste soooo much better when they're either in egg form or tree form; although why not branch out to the other forms?

Your Only Limit Is You:

A wallpaper can mean everything on a phone (or computer, if you're talking about a desktop wallpaper) because it's the first thing you see when you wake up (sometimes). The average person unlocks their phone about 110 times per day, according to Apple- which is A LOT, when you think about it, so you'd better make it count and have a cute, inspirational wallpaper waiting for you.

Friday DIY Roundup #64

Friday, May 13, 2016

Yet another week that passed by really fast- which is good, because now there are only a mere 35 days until I'm released into the wild to be free. The last week of the school year is always soooo much fun for me, because it's filled with field days, water fights, ice cream parties, and graduations- not to mention the warm weather, which means it's almost time to go swimming... But for now, there's a month left. A loooooong month.

Summer is quickly approaching, and it'll be here before you know it. Did you know that the summertime is when bloggers start lagging and get lazy in general when it comes to writing every day? One major factor that could contribute to productivity is a cute and organized desk... And DIYs are the best way to accomplish that!

5 Subscription Boxes You Should Totally Be Getting

Tuesday, May 3, 2016

Two years ago, Grav3yardgirl uploaded an unboxing video I've re-watched at least 20 times just because I want that subscription box so bad- and I thought, maybe other people would want it too, if they knew it existed. So, why not share a few other subscription boxes, too? I haven't gotten these for myself perse, but they look AWESOME~

1. MunchPak

This is the one that she unboxed that I want super super bad! It's basically a box of delicious snacks from all around the world that you may or may not have tried, so if you're in America you could try snacks from Indonesia that you've never even heard of before, or if you're in Indonesia it would be the other way around- did I mention they ship internationally???

2. The Cravory

Here's another subscription box all about food, but this one focuses mainly on cookies- how would you like two dozen delicious, unique cookies delivered to your door every once in a while? They also have flavors of the month, like pancakes and bacon cookies, or pineapple upside down cake, etc.

3. Julep Maven

There are dozens of beauty-related boxes out there (*cough cough Birchbox*), but I wanted to find one that probably wasn't as mainstream/known about but that also had quality products for a good price, and I came across Julep Maven! Julep is a cosmetics company that focuses on less chemical-y naipolishes :)

4. Popsugar Must Have Box

This one goes beyond the classic beauty box, and it's contents can range from fashion to beauty to fitness, and from home to food- they have everything a girl could possibly want! It's like having your birthday, but just once a month, and you get to open presents alone instead of in front of people.

5. Graze

Yep, another food box- but don't worry, this is the last one. This box mainly delivers healthy snacks that can range from nuts to dried fruits to some chips and salsa, and if you don't like something then they won't send it to you again, so you're always satisfied with your yummy box. This one is different, though- a fraction of the profits are given to the Graze School of Farming in Uganda, which teaches students how to grow their own food!

I hope you like all of these, and are now subscribed to at least one of them (if not all of them, are you kidding these are great!), because subscription boxes are like getting gifts every month for a small price. Enjoy!

6 Delicious S'Mores-Themed Recipes to Toast Your Marshmallow Heart

Monday, May 2, 2016

When you think of s'mores, what do you think of? Summer nights? Campfires? Chocolaty smiles? I know that there's two whole months to go before we can start summer, but we sure can start thinking about it- and since s'mores are the ultimate summer treat besides watermelon and hot dogs, what better way to spread the vibe?

S'mores Krispie Treats | by Renee's Kitchen Adventures - easy dessert or snack recipe for krispie treats with traditional s'mores flavor. Perfect for summer!: 1. S'Mores Snack Mix by Like Mother Like Daughter

2. S'Mores In A Bag by A Girl and a Glue Gun

4. S'Mores Bark by Wine & Glue

5. S'Mores Bites by The First Year

6. Deep Fried S'Mores by SugarHero ('MURICA!)

I had to add that last part, because if anything is deep fried that probably shouldn't be deep fried unless you're looking for a heart attack must be from America.
