10 Ways to Celebrate the Last Day of School

Thursday, June 16, 2016

IT'S THE VERY LAST DAY OF SCHOOL! Ah. It feels so good to be done with everything. Now all I have to do is sit through a three hour assembly, eat lunch, and then get free Dutch Bros. I just hate that it's gonna rain today, when we're supposed to be in the dunk tank and running around with water slides for pete's sake. Here are some ways to celebrate either while you're there, or afterwards~

Get some fruity, sweet drink that's cold. For example, iced coffee, iced tea, or just something cold and sweet. If it's cold where you are,  should obviously go for something a little warmer, though.

2. Dress up in your favorite summer attire. Today I'm wearing a t-shirt with the american flag on it, a daisy flower crown, jean shorts and flip flops. I don't care about the rain, I'm just praying for a minute of sun. Just think flower crowns!!!!

3. Eat popsicles. Popsicles are the ultimate summer food, and you gotta eat them, because there are so many different kinds! One time, my sister and I were in Fred Meyer's and this store employee came up to us and said that he'd bought them when he was on break, ate a few, and then was looking around for two kids to give the last ones to. The moral of the story is to always be nice to Fred Meyer's employees, and try the Tillamook frozen yoghurt popsicles that have coconut on them.

It's the best option no matter what, because usually it's gonna be pretty warm when you get out of school, so just grab some friends and head to the river, or the pool (if you have one)! Swim all day and then watch the sunset while you're all wrapped up in a towel and have a popsicle in your hand.

5. Have a slip-n-slide! If you don't have a nearby river or pool to go to, just grab a slip-n-slide and have all the fun at home. You could even have other water-related games for you and your friends, like a dunk tank, or sprinklers to run around in- maybe even try the ice bucket challenge....? If you're not up to the ice bucket challenge, try filling a bucket with just water and surprising a friend.... ;)

6. Have a fun end-of-the-year BBQ! Grill some hotdogs and some burgers, have ice cream, hang out with friends + family. The best way to start off the summer is to have a laid back get-together, and besides, I love barbecues. The food is to die for and there's usually either ice cream or cupcakes, so I'm in.

7. Adopt a dog. This sounds crazy and unrelated, but it's nice to spend the summer with a furry friend, and I love dogs. It would be so fun to do this after school, or maybe get checked out from school just to head to the shelter and pick out a furry friend! (someone please get me another dog)

8. Head to a local theme park, if you have one. This is really only an option if you live in Southern California or Florida, or any other place with Disney parks. Personally I don't enjoy rides that much but it's still such a magical experience, especially if you have annual passes that give you a discount.

9. Go to the zoo! I went to both the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Safari Park over spring break and it was SOO much fun. I would love to go back, but the nearest walk-around-zoo is four hours away in Portland.

10. Go for a road trip! It doesn't even have to be a long one. I would LOVEEEE to be checked out of school to pack my bags and drive up to Portland for a couple of days of good food and shopping, mainly because I love Portland and it's nice to get away for a while. You don't even have to drive that far, because Seattle is only about 8 hours from where I live, so as long as you left earlier enough you could make it there by that night.

Your last day of school most likely already passed, but it would still be super fun to do one of these whether it's your last day or just another warm summer day.
